ESY, LLC is an extension for learning, an Extended School Year program.  Since 2013, ESY has provided face to face tutorial and educational support for students  during the summer months and after-school.   Specially designed sessions meet the needs of students that struggle to read, solve mathematical problems, comprehend, and /or have a disability and benefit from more small group or 1-on-1 support.


Yes, since we live in a new wave of accessing others more safely and conveniently, we have launched a total online approach to meet families' needs as it relates to supporting children's learning with explicit and direct instructions. 


ESY provides small group (max. 8 students) virtual sessions for students going into the 3rd through 5th grade on reading comprehension, reading fluency, and executive function skills that are needed during the summer months to lessen summer lose and COVID slide.  


Elementary school years are a pivotal time for reading development, as they create a foundation for learning across all subject areas. Yet, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), year after year, roughly 60% of American fourth-graders are not reaching reading proficiency.  For these children, literacy will continue to present a steeper uphill climb in the absence of targeted instruction and intervention.

Using only full certified teachers, ESY engages in highly evidence based practices with intentional strategies to motivate students to want to learn and be successful at it.  Within the small group sessions, students have the opportunity to experience social involvement and understanding others as well as themselves.

What is COVID SLIDE?

Emerging pieces of evidence of an actual COVID-19 learning loss and of its likely implications for the future of the generation currently in school show that it is essential to mitigate the long-term effects of the pandemic as much as possible.


COVID-19 driven school closures have brought significant disruption in education across the nation.  Emerging evidence from some of the region's highest-income areas is showing that the pandemic is resulting in learning losses and increases in inequality.  It is likely that lower-income areas are suffering even more.  To reduce and reverse the long term negative effects there is a need to implement learning recovery programs, and prepare for future shocks by building back better. 


ESY is committed to provide virtual learning session to attack specific skills that will later be detrimental for life-long learning if not addressed early on.  In these sessions, the teacher(s) will implement lessons with a direct purpose on informally assessing student progress and scaffold instructions to address individual needs.  In a group of 8 students, the learning culture will support developmental needs and address academic achievement gaps.
